Kauai is the Most Awesome Island in the WORLD
Kauai is a peaceful paradise that draws nature lovers from around the world. It is the oldest Hawaiian island, with a geographic diversity that comprises 552 square miles. Lush valleys and tall, jutting mountain peaks blanket Kauai’s interior. Encircled by 90 miles of varying coastline and white sand beaches, Kauai is an ocean lover’s dream.
In the center of the island is Mt. Wai’ale’ale, which reaches 5,148 ft. Nestled at the mountain’s crater top is the high-altitude Alaka’i Swamp, with an average rainfall of 37.5 ft per year. Kokee forest opens up to the Alaka’i Swamp, with miles of boardwalks for hiking.
On the North shore, the Hanalei River sends fresh water into Hanalei Bay, the largest sandy bay in Hawaii. Hanalei is a perfect recreation area for surfing, swimming, and boating, when conditions are right. Enjoy a snorkel adventure at Anini Reef, Hawaii’s most extensive coral reef. Visit the Wailua River on the east side. On this river, you can waterski, kayak, or go on a boat cruise to the legendary Fern Grotto.
The Waita Reservoir in Koloa is Hawaii’s largest freshwater lake. Hawaii’s longest river is the Waimea, which snakes 20 miles through the multi-colored Waimea Canyon — “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” View the west side canyon from one of numerous stopping points on the way to Kokee Park.
Relax, slow down, and enjoy the natural beauty of this island paradise.
